Vigil is a notification relay service for continuous glucose monitoring. It connects to your CGM data and automatically sends SMS text messages to your family members and emergency contacts when your blood sugar drops to dangerous levels or rises too high.

We act as an extra set of eyes on your health data 24/7, so someone's always watching and ready to help.

Here's how it works:

  • You connect your Dexcom CGM account to Vigil during setup
  • Vigil checks your blood sugar levels every 5 minutes
  • When your blood sugar crosses your alert thresholds, we immediately send SMS text messages to your family and emergency contacts
  • Your contacts receive the alert within seconds and can respond to help

You stay in control—your contacts are informed but never take over your device or diabetes management.

No. Vigil is classified as General Wellness Software and is not FDA-regulated as a medical device.

Vigil is not a substitute for professional medical care, insulin delivery devices, or emergency services. If you're experiencing a severe low or any medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Vigil is designed to support your existing diabetes management by keeping your support network informed.

Alerts are sent under 30 seconds from the moment a dangerous blood sugar level is detected by your CGM.

We prioritize speed because every second matters. SMS has proven delivery rates and reaches phones even without data connectivity.

You can add up to 7 family members and emergency contacts to your Vigil account.

These can include parents, partners, siblings, friends, or anyone you trust to help in an emergency. You control who gets alerts and when.

When your blood sugar drops to a critical level:

  • An immediate SMS alert is sent to all your contacts
  • A 2-minute countdown begins during which you can dismiss the escalation alert from your phone
  • If you don't dismiss within 2 minutes, phone calls are made to your emergency contacts so they can reach you immediately

This gives you a window to respond, but ensures your support network is notified quickly if you can't.

Yes. Your data is secure and protected.

  • HIPAA compliant: We follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act standards
  • Encrypted: All data in transit and at rest is encrypted with industry-standard encryption
  • Never sold: We never sell, trade, or share your health data with third parties
  • Your control: You can revoke Vigil's access to your CGM at any time

On our Premium plan: Yes, you can customize blood sugar thresholds for high and low alerts based on your personal preferences and medical guidance from your doctor.

On our Standard plan: You'll use our clinical default thresholds (set by medical professionals) to keep you safe.

If your CGM loses signal and isn't sending data to Vigil:

  • Signal lost alert: You and your contacts will be notified
  • Reminders: Every 2 hours, reminder alerts are sent until signal is restored
  • Your responsibility: You should check your CGM, reposition the sensor if needed, or switch to fingerstick testing

This ensures you're never flying blind—your support network knows your CGM isn't reporting data.

Cancellation is simple and straightforward:

  • Email us at blake@vigil.healthcare to request cancellation
  • No long-term contracts, no hidden fees, no questions asked
  • We'll stop all monitoring and alerts immediately

We'd love to hear your feedback about why you're leaving, but it's completely optional.

Setup is easy and takes about 30 minutes:

  • Initial call: We schedule a 30-minute onboarding call with your account manager
  • Connect Dexcom: You authorize Vigil to read your Dexcom data (your CGM stays in your control)
  • Add contacts: You provide phone numbers for family members and emergency contacts
  • Test alerts: We do a test alert so everyone knows what to expect
  • You're live: Monitoring begins immediately
