The Dewberry family — the reason Vigil exists.
Built by someone living this fight every single day.
The first time, my insulin pump broke and I forgot the settings on the replacement. I programmed it to deliver 10 units per hour instead of 1. My pump alarm woke my wife Makenzie at 4 AM — she gave me a banana with peanut butter and apple juice, but the downfall was already too far gone. I got in the shower thinking it would help. Later that morning she found me unresponsive. Paramedics came. No text was sent. No one outside that house was notified.
The second time, a sensor error double-dosed my insulin while I was staying alone at my mother-in-law's house. My blood sugar dropped below 40 — so low the sensor stopped reading entirely. The AC was cold, my body never woke me up, and the pump alarm couldn't reach me. Her dog jumping on the bed crying is what saved my life. My family didn't find out until the next morning.
Thanks to my savior Jesus Christ, I'm still here. Vigil watches your glucose around the clock and texts your family when something goes wrong. It's not an app. It's not an alarm you might sleep through. It's someone always watching.
